LUCYANA QUEIROZ

LUCYANA QUEIROZ is a zootechnician and specialist in exterior evaluation and judging of Zebu cattle through FAZU. She is an active judge with the ABCZ, one of the world’s leading Zebu breed organizations.

Queiroz has judged more than 24,000 animals in 13 countries, including Brazil, Bolivia, Colombia, Mexico, Costa Rica, the Dominican Republic, Nicaragua, Guatemala, Ecuador, Honduras, Argentina, El Salvador and Venezuela.

She also served on the ABCZ Technical Deliberative Council from 2016 to 2022, contributing to the advancement of the Zebu cattle industry in Brazil and abroad.

SHANE MEIER

SHANE MEIER grew up on a Hereford ranch in the Texas Hill Country, where he and his brothers raised and exhibited steers and heifers. His father worked for President Lyndon B. Johnson for 37 years, overseeing the president’s registered Hereford cattle herd. Meier was a member of the livestock judging team at South Plains College and has remained actively involved in the livestock industry throughout his career. He and his family live in Stonewall. They have two sons, Mills and Mason, who attended Texas Tech University.

He and his family own Meier Show Cattle, where they offer hoof trimming, consulting, clipping and fitting services, as well as show cattle for sale. Over the last decade, the family has operated an educational youth steer show series in Texas called Battle of the Cattle. In 2021, they produced The Patriot Junior Market Steer Show, which drew 1,700 steers, and later that summer hosted the first Show Steer Junior Nationals. Each summer, they also host a showmanship academy that helps more than 300 exhibitors improve their skills. Meier has judged shows across the country, including state fairs in Colorado, Nebraska, Wisconsin, Iowa, Kansas, New Mexico, Georgia, New York, Florida, Louisiana and Arkansas, as well as Cattlemen’s Congress, Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo and National Western Stock Show.

TERRI BARBER

TERRI BARBER was raised on her family’s Hereford operation, Barber Ranch, in Channing, Texas and has been involved in the beef cattle industry since childhood. She earned associate and bachelor’s degrees in animal science from Clarendon College and Texas A&M University, where she was a member of the livestock judging team. Barber has built an extensive career in livestock marketing, breed associations and animal health. She served as director of livestock marketing for the Texas Department of Agriculture and previously worked with the International Brangus Breeders Association as director of youth, shows and promotions. She currently works with Elanco Animal Health and remains active in her family’s registered Hereford program.

Barber has judged numerous major livestock events, including the American Royal, National Western Stock Show, North American International Livestock Exposition, State Fair of Texas, Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo and many state and regional cattle shows across the country.

DR. SCOTT SCHAAKE

DR. SCOTT SCHAAKE grew up on a farming and ranching operation in eastern Kansas. He earned an animal science degree from Kansas State University before completing a doctorate at University of Kentucky. After completing his Ph.D., Dr. Schaake returned to Kansas State University, where he coached the livestock judging team for 22 years. During that time, the team won five consecutive national championships and recorded seven reserve finishes. He recently retired after 32 years at the university. Dr. Schaake now ranches full time in the Flint Hills of Kansas. His wife, Kandi, teaches kindergarten. Their sons, Shane and Shilo, are both married and involved in the family ranching operation. Shane works for BioZyme, and Shilo is a cattle buyer for National Beef. The family recently welcomed its first grandson, Stockton Lee Schaake.
